Many people who hear about the law of attraction and start using it to change their circumstances soon get frustrated because what they want isn’t manifesting, or it isn’t manifesting the way they wanted. If you’re one of them – please don’t give up just yet. You may simply be making the same mistakes as thousands of other people, that are easy to correct if someone (wink 😉 ) would only point them out to you. Ready?
1. Expecting Instant Results
The law of attraction doesn’t work like a magic wand, and you can’t expect every thought you have to manifest immediately. Especially if you’re new to manifesting, there are a lot of things you should learn – manifestation isn’t like making a wish, it requires constant focus and the use of tools like positive affirmations and visualization, and there are tricks to these as well; manifestation also needs your complete belief, practicing positive thinking, aligning the thoughts and the emotions for achieving the desired outcome, recognizing the opportunity when it appears – and you simply can’t absorb that all at once.
Also, people new to manifesting often want it all, and they want it now. That makes them poorly focused on one particular thing, because they can’t make up their mind, jumping from a dream home to the new job and a romantic partner; and successful manifesting needs you to be focused. You can have it all – you just don’t know how right now, and that’s why you can’t have it all right now.
So, instead of trying to get everything perfect from the first try, devote your time to learn how manifestation works (there are plenty resources on this website alone) and to slowly practice it. Realize that not every technique works for everyone, so keep trying until you find what works for you. Patience, that’s your first lesson 🙂
2. Starting Big
Another common mistake is that people want to manifest their biggest dreams right away. This goes back to mistake No.1 – you just don’t know how to do that, and, although to the universe it’s all the same whether you’re trying to manifest a cup of coffee or $1,000,000, it’s not the same to you – and it makes all the difference.
For the law of attraction to work the way you want, you must believe without a shred of doubt that it works and that you’re getting what you’ve asked for. And it will take time for that belief to take root in your mind: you will much easier believe in the possibility to attract that cup of coffee than in the possibility to attract one million dollars. Even if you start with a firm belief, chances are that it will dilute after a few days or weeks.
So start with the small things, and work your way to the firm belief, as you get better in practicing visualization and as you learn about manifestation.
3. Getting Attached to Only One Outcome
Sometimes people get so fixated on only one way their wishes can be manifested that they miss the opportunities that the universe brings to them. You shouldn’t do that – be open to all situations and ready to take action; the point of making the law of attraction work for you is in being ready to pursue every opportunity that comes your way.
Even if you’re visualizing, for example, your ideal job in every detail, you shouldn’t become attached to the image of it, but rather to the emotion that you have. When the opportunity comes, if it feels right – jump on it, that’s what you have manifested! Realize that the law of attraction works when you allow it to, so just be open and go with the flow.
4. Acting from a Place of Despair
It’s not the same if you’re focusing on what you want, and focusing on what you don’t want. For example, even though the statement: “I want to win the lottery because I’m sick of being broke” may sound like focusing on what you do want (winning the lottery), it’s actually bringing focus to what you don’t want: to be broke. And guess what that manifests.
You’re doing it every time you formulate your desires in some of these ways:
– I HAVE to have that money
– I NEED to find a boyfriend
– I MUST get a new job, etc.
When you do that, you’re not allowing – you’re acting from a place of despair, and despair is a negative emotion that blocks your attracting power.
This sends mixed messages to the universe, your vibration gets all messed up; the same happens even when you’re doing it unconsciously, because of the negative or limiting beliefs stored deep in your mind – they also participate in manifesting, your entire being is, so you have to take care of your subconscious as well.
